An engaging evening of arts and entertainment is set to captivate the residents of Potter County this Saturday at 6 p.m. The Austin Area School, located in Austin, Pennsylvania, will host an event that promises a delightful mix of interactive activities, musical performances, and local delights. Organized by the Potter County Creative Council (PC3), this public event aims to foster community spirit through participatory trivia challenges, live music, and hands-on crafts for children. Attendees can look forward to enjoying locally sourced refreshments and witnessing performances from talented students and former faculty members. This initiative continues PC3's mission to enhance community and economic development through arts and culture.
The event will feature a series of audience-participation trivia games, designed to engage attendees with questions rooted in local themes. Prizes in the form of gift cards will be awarded to the winners, adding an element of excitement. Among the highlights will be musical performances by several young talents, including Brennan Ogden, Lillian Clinger, Kellie Crumrine from Austin Area School, and Ronan Bray from Coudersport Area High School. Former faculty member Katie Sasala will take on the role of emcee, guiding the evening's proceedings with her expertise.
For younger participants aged 5 to 12, a supervised craft activity will offer a creative outlet as they construct novelty guitars and percussion instruments. The evening's culinary offerings will include delectable treats from local providers such as God’s Country Creamery and Sons of Dunn Farm/God’s Country Kettle Corn, ensuring a feast for both mind and palate.
The Potter County Creative Council (PC3) was established in 2022, succeeding the Potter County Council on the Arts. Its formation came after Potter County was selected as one of six nationwide recipients of the Creative Communities Placemaking Challenge, an initiative by Americans for the Arts aimed at leveraging arts and culture for community and economic growth. Since then, PC3 has been recognized for its efforts, receiving a multi-year grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts' Creative Communities Initiative. This funding supports ongoing projects that aim to enrich the cultural landscape of Potter County.
In recent months, PC3 has organized several successful events, including a free concert featuring the Felix Piano Trio at the Presbyterian Church in Coudersport, which drew a large and enthusiastic crowd. More recently, the council presented a concert at the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum, headlined by the California Guitar Trio, alongside student musicians Lillian Vought and Ronan Bray. These events have not only showcased local talent but also attracted visitors from beyond the county, fostering a vibrant cultural scene.
This upcoming event exemplifies PC3's commitment to bringing people together through arts and entertainment. By combining interactive activities, live performances, and community engagement, it promises to be an evening that celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Potter County while promoting unity and creativity among its residents.
